I’ve always hinted at this topic in many of my posts. Now is the time to fully talk about it.
Firstly, though, I thank God for the exams I took yesterday. After the exams, I came home and I literarily couldn’t keep my eyes open for another hour. This was the most refreshing sleep I have had in DAYS (and is the reason for my late post).
Alright. Here we go.
There’s this very interesting song I love listening to. It’s called Oceans, by Hillsong United.

What I like about this song is that it explains the process that God uses to teach a lot of us to COMPLETELY trust in Him.
Often, what hinders a perfect relationship of trust with God is second options. Yes, alternatives.
Whenever there’s an alternative to trusting God, a more visible path to success, trusting God becomes something too scary and “unwise” to do. The truth is that we are generally more comfortable with sorting out our messes by ourselves. It seems to make little or no sense to pray over every little thing in our lives; praying over food, water, before we sleep, when we wake up… These are things we feel are more or less in our control. And this habit carries on into bigger things like exams, journeys, relationships, and critical health conditions.
The more you forget the importance of God in your life, the more you’re caught up in this system where nothing works for you until you directly make it work. It makes you constantly stressed while you continually try to meet up to your expectations and those that other people have of you – to no avail.
This is a vicious cycle of unfulfillment that, again, needs God to fix.
On one hand, you’re struggling to achieve things that you find most important to you, forgetting to acknowledge God for anything. On the other hand, because you’ve forgotten God – or hardly ever remember Him since you’re so busy – you can’t turn to Him for help. I mean, if you’ve even forgotten Him and what He’s capable of, how are you going to turn to Him? Most depressing is when you feel that because you don’t deserve the mercies of God, you shouldn’t even bother asking; as if God is just another human that’ll treat you according to what you deserve.
Usually, and I thank God for times like these, the problem escalates and we lose control. This eliminates every other option and we are forced to refocus on God. For example, someone diagnosed with an illness might not see how praying and seeking God can help him. He’ll go from one hospital to another, try one treatment after another… It’s usually after the doctors have said that there’s nothing that can be done and the illness will progress until the patient dies that he’ll turn to God in prayers.

Having no other option, Peter, when he was drowning, called out to Jesus – Matthew 14:22-33.
Martha was in the same position when Lazarus died (John 11:17-22).
The great thing is that even after our unfaithfulness, God still hears us (2 Timothy 2:13; 2 Chronicles 15:4).
I love this Jesus mehn! :D
If you analyse it critically, though, you will see that it is only when God is your ONLY hope that your prayer becomes truly fervent. And this prayer made in complete dependence on God is all that is needed for whatever kind of miracle to take place.

My question is, what if you made God the only option in every single situation?
(Lamentations 3:40, Job 22:23, Zechariah 1:3)
See you tomorrow. :)
