Nothing is worse than going into battle without a Commanding Officer; the entire unit’s Intel is in his possession. When the Commanding Officer is absent, the unit is automatically disbanded – unless another person takes on the responsibility of leading the group. And a group is only as good as its leader.
"I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion." - Alexander the Great.
When a soldier is given a direct order, he carries it out to the letter WITHOUT QUESTIONS. He does not give excuses for his incompetence or try to reason with his instructor. The soldier is well aware that any order he receives is for his best interest and for the good of the entire unit. To disobey is to jeopardize his life and the lives of all those counting on him to deliver.
Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of his team, a Captain never issues out an order to a soldier he knows is incapable of delivering. The soldier, having this confidence in his commanding officer, therefore, puts in sweat and blood to ensure his mission is completed.
Every day, you call Jesus your Lord and your Master, implying that he has the final say in your day-to-day life. You place Him in the same position a soldier places his Commanding Officer – or at least, with your words you do. You infer, invariably, that you are willing to carry out WHATEVER is required of you.
Far too many times, however, you deliberately refuse to do certain things you know you should be doing and wave it off with a statement that is in fact the pinnacle of mutiny: “God will understand.”
WHAT?!
In the words of Jesus:
"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? – Luke 6:46
Do you have any clue how many lives are meant to be saved by you? Do you know that because you, many people will go to heaven, AND MANY PEOPLE CAN GO TO HELL?! Do you know that, just as it is in the army, disobeying Jesus has some serious consequences?
Surely, you will not be punished with doing reps or push-ups or whatever goes on in the army; but just as a soldier can fall behind enemy lines if he doesn’t follow precise instructions, a Christian will fall into sin, AND STAY THERE, if he disobeys Jesus Christ and chooses to stay disobedient!
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' – Matthew 7:21-23.
It is a shocker that people can actually perform miracles without really being with Christ. Don't let your happy life fool you. Think deeply!
The life of every human is a war zone. You can either choose to be led by your desires, friends, games, or whatever it is you think is “cool” and “happening”, or you can choose to be led by Jesus.
“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:14-15.
What is it going to be for you; obey Jesus COMPLETELY, or keep fooling yourself that you're serving Him?
Have a lovely day ahead.
See you tomorrow. :)
