Mass today was fantastic!!! I mean, if you didn’t go to church then you need to read my article on going to church IMMEDIATELY!
St Paul prayed for love in the believers (Philippians 1:9). Another version speaks of an increase of love in knowledge and discernment. There seems to be a level of faith and love we attain as a free gift of God, and then there’s that much that we only get from our desire to grow in the knowledge of God. For this reason, the Thessalonians were praised in Acts 17:11 for their eagerness to search the Word of the Lord in order to know God. Again, in 2 Peter 1:2-3, we see the link between the “nice things” of Christianity and our growth in the knowledge of God.
Allow me, therefore, to expand your knowledge!!! :D
Every person on earth – unless, maybe, you were in the CIA and are currently disavowed, hehe – has a country; therefore, a citizenship. We all, in one way or another, have pledged allegiance to this nation and have promised to do everything in our power to work for it. It is possible, however, to have what is called a dual citizenship. This happens when you’re a citizen of two countries.
This begs the question: to which country is your loyalty pledged?
As is true in many of these cases, people with dual citizenship tend to refer to their first country as their “own” and the second one as “the one in which they got citizenship”. I’ve NEVER heard of a case where a person forgets their original country and assumes they are natives of the second country – except, maybe in amnesia; but then the person may not even remember his own name. Sad. :(
A person from a particular nationality always has something that makes them stand out when they are among other people. It may be the way they talk, what they wear, what they eat, how they greet… There’s always something. He can choose to learn a different culture, but that doesn’t change who he originally is. Many times, it is easy to tell his first country – or people, at least – just by looking at him.

The Bible refers to us as “Citizens of Heaven” in Philippians 3:20-21. Now, the statistics above may not be entirely accurate, but a great deal of Christians seem to have forgotten this first country. This is comparable to “going native”: a sociological terminology in which a covert researcher loses focus and begins to act like those he’s researching.
We’ve been on earth a long while, with one mission: Acts 26:18. Many times, conversely, we start to act like the people we are trying to bring to the knowledge of our God, forgetting who we truly are. We talk differently (curse and swear), dress differently (immodestly), eat and drink differently (do drugs, get drunk), greet differently (actually, just disrespect our neighbours; no greetings of love), act different (sexual immorality and perversion); (1 Corinthians 15:33)… It’s like contracting the very disease you’re trying to cure. :(
The only way out is to understand who you are, where you come from, and what is expected of people from your country – our country: Heaven.
All of that information is contained in the Bible (2 Peter 1:3).
So again, EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!!
See you tomorrow. :)
